Why "22 Pineapples"? Twenty-two Pineapples. Twenty-Two Pineapples.
My favorite number is 22. It's the day I chose to enter the world, it's the age at which I ended my single life, it's fun to say, a copy of itself-two twos. It's more ambitious than an even dozen, yet two (too?) short of two dozen-not quite all there. *wink*
Pineapples are unique and common at the same time. They are a tropical fruit found nearly everywhere. They are a sign of hospitality and welcome. They aren't smooth and shiny or soft and sweet on the outside. They are chunky, spiky, bumpy, tough and quirky. Getting to the inside takes some effort. They are sweet and tangy at once. They are versatile-you can eat them fresh, canned, juiced, dried, baked, cooked, roasted, grilled, hot or cold, with sweet or savory companions. Anyway you slice'em, they're good. If I were a fruit, I'd be a pineapple.
